Harry Dexter White
File Number 101-4053 Harry Dexter White, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Monetary Research, was nominated by President Truman to the U.S. delegation to the International Monetary Fund. Truman refused to withdraw the nomination, despite FBI reports that Nathan Gregory Silvermaster and Ludwig Ullmann, “reportedly directly under the supervision of White,” had photographed Treasury documents, delivered to Jacob Golos, “a known Soviet agent,” thence to Gaik Ovakimian, arrested and returned to the Soviet Union “as an unregistered agent of the Soviet Government,” and later to Abraham Benedict Weinstein and Anatole Borisovich Gromov, First Secretary of the Soviet Embassy in Washington, in which post he succeeded Vassili Zubilin, reported head of NKVD in North America.
